Grass n stuff

still busy with house stuff. Have managed to accidently kill the "indestructible" Bermuda grass in both back and front yard. Am afraid to kill the weeds in the front as they are the only green thing.

Am digging up a swath of it in the back yard for a veggie garden. Its fun work with a dull hoe. (Insert your own joke here)

Thank goodness for Ikea

My house would be empty if there wasn't an IKEA store about 3 miles from my house - conveniently between my house and my parent's house.

Still busy getting the "wee house" set up.  On the upside, I have had a sudden urge to work on the "Silly Novel." Have had some good ideas about one of my more interesting characters. But the planning and changing and tweaking can't go on forever -especially when I already have one very rough draft written.

Sometimes I find things that make me think of Moulin in the strangest places

I found it whilst making a map that required some transit information. =)

Oh, and my current imaginary bf is The Doctor (from Doctor Who) aka the Timephwhoard. The David Tennant model of course.  ;-)

of scarves and men

Today's OneWord was "scarf." Guess what (who) I wrote about? ;-)

I had sixty seconds to write something - after a few false starts I got this:

The man was reduced to an image - an icon of the man in the coat, hat and scarf. That whole life, all 44 years of it distilled into this single image that every French man and woman kne
... (ran out of time!)

Not great, but I only had 60 secs, which is forever when you are speaking but not when writing.

Neighbor to the west is not a very nice lady at all. Have not met her yet, but she tore the home inspector a new one a few weeks ago for attempting to read her water meter. He thought it was mine, but he had the wrong yard.

Neighbor to the east - a married couple. I know nothing about them except I think she stays home all day with the kids or works from home. Oh, and the husband looks a little bit like Pierre Cot. Not kidding. =)

Oh and another random but slightly cool fact - many of the zillion papers for the closing were dated June 20.

Happy Birthday Jean!

You would be 109 today.

Here's to the hope that you are somewhere looking down at a free France as you draw amusing caricatures of Sarko. ;-)

Buried under work at the moment. Ugh

still here...really

I'm still busy not being able to afford a house. (wow, that was a bad sentence)  It's very stressful, frustrating and time consuming.

I am also obsessed with Battlestar Galactica. I am working my way through season 1 at the moment.

So that's what's up in Moulinology land.

Oh, and I owe KC a book. =)

Random Thought: Did Harry Potter steal Pierre Cot's glasses?

UGH.

A word of sage advice: be careful who you pick to be your realtor. It can get messy if you don't. So far it hasn't become expensive, but I have lost a lot of sleep over it.
UGH

It also helps to have enough money that you don't have to buy foreclosures or fixer-uppers that are in shocking condition, which I don't. 0.o

"At the Solstice There Will Come a New..."

...draft of the "Silly Novel"

It falls at nearly midnight, so it's technically June 20th. Certain people know the significance of this particular date ;). Anyway, I thought it would make a good goal - I must finish a decent full draft of my French Resistance Fan Fic  novel by then.

Why the Solstice? I'm not a Wiccan or anything, but I am a fan of Harry Potter and Rowling seems to have a thing about solstices, so when I saw that it also falls on the 20th this year, I thought it was a good time to set a goal.

That will give me lots of time - more realistic than NaNoWriMo  - for a full-length novel. It also goes well with some of the themes in the novel as well. .

Guess what? Moulin is in the "silly novel" for about a paragraph. It's really just a cameo, in the guise of a certain Joseph Jean Mercier. ;-) There might be mention of "Max" now and then too.

I just wish I had a title. A real actual title. UGH.

Did I mention the fact that I played a silly bet with myself one day last year....?  I swore that if I saw a license plate with "MAX" on it on that day (and that day only) it would be a giant cosmic sign that I must write the novel. My commute is only 8 miles each way and I actually forgot about the "bet" until my ride home that evening. In fact, I didn't remember until I found myself stuck at a red light behind a car with a plate that read "MAX 123*".

I kid you not.  I haven't seen a "MAX" plate since.

I got the idea because I once saw a Limo with a plate that read "MOULIN 5"  Then there is the giant "LUMIERE" billboard  (condos) that I see daily.  Unfortunately I drive on a street called Hardy most of the way to work!

Tonight I pieced together two drafts - my NaNoWriMo version and the nuggets and ficlets I have written, which IMHO are much better than the NaNo version. It now clocks in at 80K words, but it's almost an outline of what I hope to write.

* it wasn't 123...I don't remember, but it wasn't important.

Ok, so it's nothing special. =)   Suggestions and requests are welcome (though it in may take me forever to get around to making them!)

I'm still here...

..I'm just uber busy. Still!  I spent all weekend baking cookies for the neighbors. I felt bad because she always bakes us a rum cake and I never have time to cook.  No bad neighbor guilt this year - oh no. I made some orgasmitastic shortbread cookies with dark chocolate drizzled on them (I made Christmas trees) and some yummmbly chocolate covered almonds. All courtesy of Ms Jailbird herself, Martha Stewart.  You have to admit, she does have some good recipes!

Ok, so this was a Max-less post. feel free to start a new thread in the comments. (This should really be a community and not an LJ!)

I will scan that photo. I swear! And i have some ideas for new Moulinicons. I hope to get to these projects week after next when I have some time off.

Hopefully not too cheesy...? ;) I almost did it with the iconic hat/scarf one but I felt like being different today. :)

[Edit - damn. Forgot the accent on the E. The font I used doesn't have it, so I have to draw it in and I forgot to on this draft... Grrr. ]

Random old Photo

Have you seen this photo of Max? (Warning: scary hair alert).

I am wondering If I should start some kind of Resistance group.  Reseaux_Buckmaster? Silk_And_Cyanide? Baker_St_Irregulars? (Though that may lead some to believe it's a group for people with IBS)

Hmmm

This is a new old LJ account. I closed the old one quite a while ago. I have a blog on Wordpress, so basically I have this account to post comments on other LJ's.  Terribly exciting, I know.
