My house would be empty if there wasn't an IKEA store about 3 miles from my house - conveniently between my house and my parent's house.

Still busy getting the "wee house" set up. On the upside, I have had a sudden urge to work on the "Silly Novel." Have had some good ideas about one of my more interesting characters. But the planning and changing and tweaking can't go on forever -especially when I already have one very rough draft written.

Sometimes I find things that make me think of Moulin in the strangest places

I found it whilst making a map that required some transit information. =)

Oh, and my current imaginary bf is The Doctor (from Doctor Who) aka the Timephwhoard. Guess what (who) I wrote about? ;-)

I had sixty seconds to write something - after a few false starts I got this:

The man was reduced to an image - an icon of the man in the coat, hat and scarf. That whole life, all 44 years of it distilled into this single image that every French man and woman kne ...
"At the Solstice There Will Come a New..."

...draft of the "Silly Novel"

It falls at nearly midnight, so it's technically June 20th. Certain people know the significance of this particular date ;). Anyway, I thought it would make a good goal - I must finish a decent full draft of my <strike>French Resistance Fan Fic</strike> novel by then.

Why the Solstice? I'm not a Wiccan or anything, but I am a fan of Harry Potter and Rowling seems to have a thing about solstices, so when I saw that it also falls on the 20th this year, I thought it was a good time to set a goal.

That will give me lots of time - more realistic than NaNoWriMo - for a full-length novel. It also goes well with some of the themes in the novel as well. .

Guess what? Moulin is in the "silly novel" for about a paragraph. It's really just a cameo, in the guise of a certain Joseph Jean Mercier. ;-) There might be mention of "Max" now and then too.

I just wish I had a title. A real actual title. UGH.

Did I mention the fact that I played a silly bet with myself one day last year....? I swore that if I saw a license plate with "MAX" on it on that day (and that day only) it would be a giant cosmic sign that I must write the novel. My commute is only 8 miles each way and I actually forgot about the "bet" until my ride home that evening. In fact, I didn't remember until I found myself stuck at a red light behind a car with a plate that read "MAX 123*".

I kid you not. I haven't seen a "MAX" plate since.

I got the idea because I once saw a Limo with a plate that read "MOULIN 5" Then there is the giant "LUMIERE" billboard (condos) that I see daily. Unfortunately I drive on a street called Hardy most of the way to work!

Tonight I pieced together two drafts - my NaNoWriMo version and the nuggets and ficlets I have written, which IMHO are much better than the NaNo version. It now clocks in at 80K words, but it's almost an outline of what I hope to write.

____
* it wasn't 123...I don't remember, but it wasn't important.
